The York Castle Museum
Our next destination was the York Castle Museum, which is something of a misnomer. The buildings that house the museum were government buildings built on the site where the old Norman castle once stood. The part of the museum we had time to see before it closed contains exhibits of social history of Britain in the past three centuries. At the basement level they had constructed an extensive simulation of a Victorian commercial street.
